She was alone for quite a bit in the past. No improvement. I guess that's what will happen in the future too. Thanks guys for your feedback. I wish I was able to make her be more friendly gosh....
Hi guys!
I have a big question for you today. I was not quite sure in which forum to post, so move my post if I got the wrong one. Let me explain the context first.
I have a female that used to be breeding. I introduced her to a male a couple years ago and it went fine, they had a litter...
I know two families that let their chinchilla roam, one in the kitchen-living room and the other in their whole apartment. They tell me they've taught their animal not to chew on stuff over time. And these two families have a bond with their animal that defies everything I have seen. Their...
Because I have a (very) small herd, I will not breed animals with no pedigree. Probably also because all my animals are from the smae breeder too! I once lost the ped of a male. He was used to produced my 'first generation' of tan. So not knowing if the female I kept was related to her male...
Thanks a lot JoAnne, I'll keep your email. Cuddlebug you were right, they put on weight the very next day and have kept on putting weight since then. Normal fluctuation it was. The smallest kit has reached 200g, hte other is over 300g now. I'll bring the smallest one to over 300g before...
If you put the daddy back he'll get mom pregnant again. You should keep them separated to avoid another breeding right away. I've always kept my couples separated unless I wanted them to breed.
They lost about 10g yesteray. Gosh, what kind of litter is that.....I'll keep a close eye on them for the next few days. If it keeps going i'll be going to the vet.
Hi guys!
Still another question! The two kits are not losing weight anymore but they're not gaining weight that much either. The ebony one is gaining 2g every couple days, he's at 178g, and the tan one hasn't gained anything for a week, he's stuck at 270g. I've never had kits that small...
I agree not a good idea for the milk. I wanted to make really sure they ate the first night, but they did and they keep eating without anything on it so I won't have to do it anymore.
Is it possible for a kit to eat too much? Seriously, can they and will it cause a problem? I weighted them and OMG, I couldn't believe how full their bellies were.... I didn't think they'd eat all the pellets and all the hay but they did..... I guess mom was definitely preventing them from...
Oups thanks :-) I'll write that down.
I peeked in this morning and found all the pellets and hay gone in their cage. When baby sleeps I'll weight them and put some more food. Looks good though!
I'll separate them tonight then.
They're both males, but don't worry, I was going to separate them soon anyway, I've had litters before and I never take any chances on stuff like that.
JAGS is pretty far from me. I'm sure his supplement is good but I need to take care of them now. I got other...
