What are the best antibiotics to use for chinnies? I've had bad experience with Baytril in the past. My vet gave me Azithromycin this time (different vet than the one that gave the Baytril). However it gave my girl diarrhea so we stopped immediate as she already isn't eating much and that was the reason we brought her in. Told the vet this and they did nothing. Just said well I'm on vacation next week so you should got to another other vet. I have an appointment to get her seen Monday with the other vet.

However I'm now researching what antibiotics are okay with chinnies and finding that she should not have been give Azithromcyin. What do people recommend for antibiotics as now I really don't trust that my vet knows what they are doing and hoping the new one does. But just want to go in prepared this time.

I've never given antibiotics to chins, but I did find this https://www.cuddlebugchinchillas.com/information/health/antibiotics.html it has a list of unsafe and safe ones to use, I know you said you had a problem with Baytril before but there are others on the list.

Also it's a good idea to give probiotics along with the antibiotics. Give the probiotic about 2 hours after the antibiotic to help replenish the good bacteria since antibiotics tend to kill all bacteria good and bad. The one I hear the most recommended lately is Bene-Bac.

What are you giving her antibiotics for? A good all-around antibiotic is Trimethoprim sulfa. The most worrisome problem that might happen is they may drink less, though I've never had this happen to me before.
