When I first got a chinchilla, I didn't know much about their diet and I was feeding them all the wrong things. Since then I've done a lot of research about chinchillas and have them on a steady diet of timothy hay and pellets, along with the occasional chinchilla safe treat. However, I was searching if Vita Prima food is safe for them, and I wasn't able to find any answers. Has anyone used this food before, and most importantly, is it okay for chinchillas to eat?

If you mean this food Sunseed Vita Prima Chinchilla Food then no it's not good at all for chinchillas. It's a timothy based pellet, alfalfa based is better since they do need some alfalfa in the diet, unless they can't for some medical reason. Also chins should not have fruit or veggies, and it has banana, corn, beans, apple, papaya, raspberries, strawberries, carrots, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, water crest, and spinich... it might have more that I missed, but none of those things are good for chinchillas. It also have various seeds, which are not good for chins, and it's pretty grain heavy which can cause gas issues.

You also don't want even safe treats mixed in to the pellets, it can cause picky eating. They will often just pick out just the treats and leave the pellets, like a kid getting a bowl of Lucky Charms.
