Hi everyone, so today my chin randomly got diarrhea and I have no idea what to do. I've looked through all the threads with the same kind of stories, but Im still kind of unsure what I'm dealing with here. I took a pic of her poos, they're runny/soft and mushy and she's tracking it when she steps in it. They're a light brown color. No weird smell that I can detect. And she's never had this before. She's still acting completely normal. I checked her eyes and nose, neither are runny or seeping. I felt her belly for lumps and bumps and there's nothing. I checked in her ears to see if there was anything weird and there was nothing I could see.

The only thing I can think of is that my mom gave her some craisins, and I just had to buy her a different food because the store was out of her regular kind. (She's has this kind before too but not for about a month. She only gets it when her regular kind is out of stock.)

She's still nursing. She has a week and 3 days left before her babies are ready to leave her. I just have no idea whether to be scared, or take her in to see a vet.. Heck I dont even have any idea if we HAVE a vet that knows anything about chins. I live in a small town. ANY and ALL information is mega appreciated. It's only happened today, so she hasn't been having the issue for long. Only about 12 hours. I've attached pics of her poo, as well as the food I'm giving her, and a pic of her eyes nose and ears to see if maybe I'm missing anything?

Also for further info, she's 2.5 years old. She also is currently malnourished (due to nursing and past owners)
Also, her whiskers had been broken off yesterday, I assume her son has chewed them off because he's been showing a lot of signs of dominance. But now I'm questioning literally everything. So idk if that has anything to do with the issue or not.

Okay, first, abrupt switches in feed can be very, very hard on a chinchilla, especially an underweight nursing mom. If you run out of food again, your chin will be okay if she just gets a good quality hay for a few days until you can get more. Definitely hold the craisins.

So, my advice here would be to pull her pellets and just give good quality fresh hay for 3 days. If her stools firm up again, then reintroduce her regular pellets that she will be on regularly (no food switch ups). If it smells foul or if there is mucous, then she needs to see a vet. If the diarrhea starts up again, then it would be a good idea to get a stool sample run for parasites.

Well, I'm better at preventing problems than treating them.
how many grams of feed do your chinchillas eat in 8 days? when you only have 8 days of pellets in the pack it's time to buy another one. if you don't find the same brand, buy another and make the following gradual introduction
5 days (75% old food + 25% new food)
5 days (half old and half new)
5 days (25% old food and 75% new food)
after that you can give only the new one. when the new package is only 8 days away, it's time to buy another one. if you don't find the same brand (the new one) you can go back to the old one with the same gradual introduction.
I'm sorry for my English
