First 2 pictures are of with a flashlight being shined on his eye. Last picture is just with the flash from my camera. His eye was watery yesterday, but I didn't think much of it. I've already made a vet appointment for tomorrow afternoon. He is caged alone. Please advise what you think is wrong with his eye. I'm scared and worried. :(

Has the eye had any discharge or is it wet at all and if so - how long has it been going on (it looks like there is some slight wetness and discharge in the corner of eye from the pics)? Does the chins have any other symtoms besides the blood in the eye? Is this a dental chin?

It looks worse than it is, poor little guy has really scratched his eye up. The vet will probably give you some antibiotic drops or ointment to help prevent/treat infection and bring any inflammation down. It will be much better in a few days, just keep the eye clean and don't give any dust baths for a week or maybe a bit longer. I'm so glad you were able to get an appointment to get him in sooner rather than later.

I noticed a watery eye from him about a week ago, but it definitely wasn't bloody like it is now. And yes, he has some wetness around the eye and a small amount of discharge in the corner. I just noticed he has dried blood around his nose and some blood spots on top of his wooden hidey house. He doesn't have any dental problems that I know of.

Thank you for the advice especially since I will know what to expect the vet should prescribe me and that helps alot.

Here is a picture of the dried blood on his nose :(

I don't know. Now I'm really scared. I tried to wipe some of it away before I took the picture but he wasn't having it. In all honesty though I don't see a scrape or how he could have have scraped it. Just from the picture does it look like a scrape to ya'll? Do you think I should try to wipe more of it off tomorrrow to see for sure? If blood really is coming from his nose what could be a cause of that?

To me the left side of his nose looks scratched. I wish I could help you more but i have never experienced anything of this sort with a chin.

There's a couple of causes for blood coming out of the nose...most likely it would be a fall where he hit his nose on something pretty hard. How is he acting? Is he eating normally?

Chances are it is just some superficial scratches or he bumped his nose and it looks much worse than it is, but watch his behavior. If he starts to act strange like he's wobbly or he starts to snort blood or something like that, get him to an emergency vet. It isn't possible that he got stepped on by anyone, is it?

He's acting okay but he's not his normal hyper self at night. He's been sleeping a lot the past 2 nights. We just moved him to my apartment from my parents house on Sunday so that could be the reason he has been sleeping a lot since he's still getting adjusted to the new place. He's eating normally. I watched him chomp down some hay as soon as I put it in.
I'm really hoping its just a couple small scratches. I will make sure to keep an eye on his behavior though. He was out for playtime on my bed last night, but other than that he hasn't been out of his cage so no way he could have gotten stepped on.

I am flip flopping on would I want a head x-ray and dental exam due to the damage that is external, but I do not have enough experience with physical injury to make a informed decision, I would ask the vet if that would be a good idea.

Thank you for the advice. I will make sure to bring that up during his examination at the vet's. Only a couple more hours to go until his appointment. I saw him drinking water and eating hay last night before I went to sleep so that's a plus.

aww...i hope he will be ok. im with dawn, i think i would want an xray as well. if he is already there and you have the funds that would at least give you peace of mind if all is well and a treatment plan if the doc finds something.

Not an expert in any regard but I know when the vet was testing one of my boys for a block in his eye they inserted some liquid and expected it to go through and come out the ducts in his nose. So my question is... could it be some sort of internal thing that has the blood in the ducts that would lead to both eyes and nose??? Just a thought... something to have the vet check for.

What concerns me is that the blood is not on the eye, it is IN the eye which makes me think there is some form of blunt internal trauma, perhaps a fall or what not. I would probably agree with Dawn on a xray to assess for further head trauma especially if there is blood on or coming out of his nose.

A plugged tear duct would not cause any bleeding.

I agree... I don't think it's a tear duct but that's how I learned that that passage way needs to be clear... Meaning if there blood IN the eye and coming out of the ducts on the nose, it has to be an internal bleeding as opposed to external scratches. I agree it might be some sort of head trauma.

The inside of the eye is closed, the only thing is is open to is the brain. The tear duct opens to the outside of the eye, actually sitting in the eye lid allowing the eye to drain instead of overflow. The eye is closed to maintain pressure, if it was open to the tear duct then the fluid inside of the eyeball would just leak out and we'd all have flat eye balls.

I was wondering if this is possible when the roots penetrate the eye socket - can they also get so bad as to penetrate the eye itself?

I would imagine so... I thought of that as well, but you would think the chin would not be eating by that time. I've seen chins that have had the roots breaking through the top of the jaw, and by that time they're in pretty sad shape...

It looks like there is a hemorrhage in the anterior chamber of the eye. With the combination of blood around the nose, this is probably due to trauma. If it was a one-time trauma issue, his eye should be just fine!

Hahaha. Yes, of course, I understand that... basic anatomy. I was not sure if all of the blood was contained within the eye or not, so my thought was if not, it could be causing some of the blood from the nose as well. In other words... completely agreeing with you that it has to be some sort of trauma/internal bleeding. :)
