Here is my mexican fire leg tarantula Paul, having dinner..(Thanks to Therese for getting me into spiders! LOL) He has molted twice since I've gotten him/her/it. He's gotten huge, getting pretty scary!! haha

And one of my pride and joys, my 56 gallon saltwater reef tank with 1 bicolor dwarf angelfish, 3 zebra dartfish, 1 firefish, 1 spotted mandarin goby, and a lone chromis who survived out of a school of 3 and thinks he is a dartfish, among various invertebrates & corals:

your tarantula is beautiful, I have 8 of them but I have always wanted a mexican fire leg.Just BEAUTIFUL!

Nice Stack! Do you handle Paul at all? S/he looks huge. I was at a reptile show and was looking at slings...I'm thinking about it...

Nope, I don't handle Paul. S/he is still pretty jumpy, so I just leave him be. I also found out that I'm really sensitive to the urticating hairs the other day when I was cleaning his water dish, so it's probably for the best anyway. When I clean his tank I use a paint brush to scoot him into a little container..hehe. He's probably about 2-3" across now.

Kate, I didn't know I unfriended you! I went through and deleted a bunch of people awhile ago and I must have accidentally deleted you. I will re-add you :))

Paul, still freaks me out. I wouldn't be able to sleep with him in my room. I'd feel like his he was watching me. lol

Is that an army man beside him? haha

Your fish tank is beautiful. I'm jealous. I shut mine down and have it ready to be put in storage.

One word for Paul Stanley - Eeeeeek!

Ok, now why did you name your spider Paul Stanley?

Oh and love your tank :D!

I admit Paul Stanley is very nice looking but still...ahhhhh!! Love that coloring but no spiders for me!

Love the aquarium...so diverse and interesting :)

Ok, now why did you name your spider Paul Stanley?

Haha...I have a friend named Paul Stanley. He insisted I name the spider after him since they are both "hairy and have swag". I also wanted to name him something plain and normal, instead of some of the crazy spider names I have seen people come up with. I never though of anything so I gave in and named him Paul. haha

I really have never been a spider person either, but tarantulas intrigued me for some reason. Now..I definitely do not like spiders when they are out roaming free and have the potential to crawl in my ears....but my spider in his tank isn't so bad. :D He still gives me the creepy crawlies every once in awhile, though.

Stack, love your animals!

Paul gives me the heebie jeebies...but I'm still so intrigued by him!

Even though I hate spiders mr. Paul is gorgeous and I love the little soldier, at first I thought it was one of those plastic little ones like in toy story but either way that is a cool decoration. I absolutely love your saltwater tank. It is gorgeous and I'm totally jealous!! I am going to attempt to start my first salt water tank probably next month and hopefully one day it will look as good as yours.

Thanks! My saltwater tank is still pretty young. I started it last November in a 30 gallon before moving it to the 56 in February.

I was always scared of spiders, but have held tarantulas before, and they are fuzzy and cute. :) I'm jealous. I've always wanted a huge saltwater fish tank. I had a fish named Stella before moving back.

I adore your spider! Always wanted one, but I'm not sure the boyfriend would like it haha. Your saltwater tank is A-H-mazing by the way. I just started a 5.5 gallon nano reef tank about 2 months ago. What kind of corals do you have in it?

Thanks! I recently added some corals, so I have a bit more than what is in the picture. Right now I have a bubble anemone that is being hosted by a maroon clown, frog spawn, various colors of zoanthids, yellow polyps, green & purple ricordia, green & red mushrooms, a tree coral, toadstool leather coral, green star polyps, green trumpets, waving hand xenias, and pulsing xenias. Think I got them all :))

In the first pic what are those little white things above the black fangs? Are those 2 black things fangs? And are those little tiny eyes above the white things? Where is the mouth?

The white is just the glare from the flash shining off of him. The eyes are right above the glare. You can't actually see the fangs in those pics.
