I'm taking in a few of the rescues and they will be available for adoption after a transition period to make sure everyone is healthy and ready to go to permanent home.

I would rather most private adoptions be dealt with in that manner, but we will have some individual adoptions, too. Thanks for your help!

There will likely be more chincs available for adoption as plans change. If you are interested and have not yet applied for adoption, please complete the following form and return it to me by email. We have additional possible transportation to southern WI and SE MN as well as the NJ area and central FL.

Number of people in household: adult/teen/child?

Who will be the primary care giver?

What other pets are in the house? (Note: Rats, mice, hamsters and rabbits can be problematic if kept near chinchillas.)

What cage will you be using? We require a plastic free cage (excepting the bottom if chew-proofed). We can help convert an existing cage.

Where in the house will the cage be kept?

What type of exercise wheel will they have? (We normally require the QC 15" chinspin.)

Do you have air conditioning? A dehumidifier? What temperature is your house normally?

How often will the chin have supervised out of cage playtime? Where will the chinchilla play? What needs to be done to chinproof an area?

What food, hay and water will you be giving and where will you purchase these?

(The chins are on Oxbow Cavy Cuisine pellets and Timothy hay. Do you know how to transition from one feed to another?)

What type of dust will you use for bathes?

What treats will you be giving?

What types of chew items will you have?

What veterinarian will you use? Do they experience with chinchillas? Do you have a back-up or after-hours vet? Chins see a vet yearly until at least 4 years of age.

Rick if you guys need I could foster a few chins if we can get them this direction too, I'd prefer to see them go directly to homes, but a chin in need, is a chin in need.

I'm getting in some hedgies I believe, my references are all checked and just waiting for the board to okay me and then just waiting for the word that hedgies are in motion. I'll have 10 bins ready, so I'm guessing at least ten, more if some girls can be paired up here.

I plan on keeping any females long enough to make sure they're not pregnant... dismembered babies are not what a unknowing hedgie owner wants to wake up to!

I am looking to temporarily home two chinnies and two hedgies that will be rehomed to permanent homes after recovering here at my home. I've returned applications to Rick and to Dawn Wrobel.

I am interested in fostering 4 same sex chins that Michelle (Nj) will pick up for me. I know it is a dumb question but how do I fill out the form listed on the forum and email to you. Do I somehow copy it , then pick pm?? Also you ask where the chins would live. If I am fostering and find a forever home for them - what would be the answer. I have done quite a bit of rescueing so this is not my first. I am VERY careful where all my chins go and NEVER breed rescue chins (chins that I don't know the pedigree of) and make sure that new chin parents don't breed them also

It's not a dumb question...just highlight what you need to fill out (between /Start Copy/ and /End Copy/), right click on the highlighted portion, go to Copy. Go into your email program and compose an email to Rick and in the message portion, right click, Paste. Then you should be able to answer the questions asked before you send the email. :)

I'm kind of surprised more poeple aren't 'stepping up' in Wisconsin, Minnesota and the U.P. of Michigan, since transportation has been offered from the Rockford, Il. area!
I think there's 15-20 left, and from what I understand, all under 12 months old!

If it makes it easier, attached is a .txt version of the application Rick posted. You can right click on the link and save the file to your computer. MS Works, notepad or some other program can be used to fill it out.

I PM'd to be put on the list for a female rescue. She will stay here for a quarantine period and then be available for adoption in my area.

Hello,
I can take one for sure, preferably a female...but I understand the severity of the rescue and will accept any sweet little puff.

I have sent the rescue application to FIVE possible homes in the Fredericksburg area. I requested to know within 48 hours so that you (Rick) can have a better idea of where the chins need to go.

Thanks again!

Do I need to fill out this form? I gave all this info to Rick early on in this mess but it wasn't in this form fashion. Will it make things easier if I fill out the form now or just make more work for them? The current plan is for me to transport 5 to Houston, dropping off 2 on the way and then fostering the remaining 3.

Have you been approved yet? They need paper trails for every animal, so everything being in the same format will be helpful. I would fill this one out, and sent it, and just add a note that says you already gave your info to Rick, but wanted to make sure they got a completed form.

That's what I did too. Didn't want to add too much confusion but thought that it might be needed for a paper trail ;)

Anyone attempting to take possession (even for a short term) should fill out the application and forward it to Rick. He has to have a trail to each and every animal.

Anyone know if there is transportation to FL yet? I may be interested in adopting a pair if they can transport them to Central FL...
