Thank you for your help Dawn. The vet says Kirby's prognosis is good, you're right he needed to be eating more. He's actually staying at the vets for a couple days because its almost two hours away so he can be more closely monitored.

Ok thanks. I think I have failed by not giving him enough. And it was hard to get him to move around. And with the vet he hasn't been on reglan regularly.

I don't have a scale but I will feed him the fiber until I see him eating otherwise. It's true sometimes he takes pellets out and throws them on the floor.

My chinchilla eats oxbow pellets and hardly ever has treats. He eats a lot of hay too but he ears a lot of pellets. His bowl is almost always empty. He eats those first even though it is just plain pellets. Should I stop free-feeding? Thanks for any input :)
