    Chin & Puppy

The puppy's crate is in our room, so right now they have to be in the same room for at least a short period of time. I did drape fleece over Buddha's cage & that seems to be working well. He bucks at the puppy when he sees him & kacks at him, but otherwise, he seems unbothered. I keep scolding...

    Chin & Puppy

We have house guests for Christmas, so all of our spare bedrooms, including the one in which my chinchilla (Buddha) usually resides, are occupied. We've moved Buddha's cage into our bedroom, which wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that we have a new puppy (a shih tzu/bichon mix). The...

Chinnie Buddies-Do they work for you?

I stand corrected! I caught Buddha snuggling with his cuddle buddy the other day. Maybe he just needed some time to get used to it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    FN double level question

Yep, I have one chin in a double Ferret Nation. There is a divider in the middle with a little hole in the corner so he can move from level to level. I wouldn't keep him in anything smaller as he uses every inch of the space! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Naming my Furbaby

I like Dudley. I would call him Duds for short. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Awake Chinchilla

Sounds normal. I work from home sometimes and my little guy sits in his house and watches me. He sleeps on and off. I also put a piece of fleece over the top level of his cage so it's a bit darker for him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is my kit too small for a Ferret Nation (bar spacing)

Also, what a cutie! ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is my kit too small for a Ferret Nation (bar spacing)

My little guy was only 243g (I think, maybe 234g? Something like that!) when I first got him and I put him right in his FN cage with no issues! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Stopped Playing

My male chin is like that sometimes. He usually lets me pet him all over, so if he acts sort of standoffish when I go to pet him, I know he's having "one of those days." I just leave him alone in that case since that seems to be what he wants. He's usually back to his usual friendly self the...

    Setting up for a Chin

What javachin said... It doesn't fray and I change the fleece weekly. Have another piece of fleece ready to go in while the first one is in the wash. Get anti-pill fleece so it doesn't ball up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Setting up for a Chin

I say use fleece and skip the bedding. Bedding - shavings and all that - is just a pain. I don't sew and I didn't feel like paying for someone to make fleece liners for me, so I just got fleece from Joann's when it was on sale and cute a big piece to fit the cage when folded in half (for two...

    Treats

Also, I got a Silver Surfer wheel for my chin and it's perfect. I have a two level Ferret Nation cage and the wheel is on the bottom level and it's quiet and it allows him to expend some energy while he's in his cage. I think the Chin Spin is also recommended here or the "flying saucer" wheel...

    Treats

I replied to another post, but I got my rose hips from rhondaschins.com and they were reasonably priced. My chin gets about one a day. Another thing my chin LOVES are the Mrs. Pasture's Horse Cookies from chinchillacity.com - I use a hammer to break the cookies into small pieces and he goes nuts...

    Do rose hips go bad?

Stores like petco and petsmart don't sell them. I ordered mine online. From rhondaschins.com! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Decisions, decisions

Also, my chin doesn't really pee in the same spot. He usually pees on the top level of his cage, somewhere on the floor. He doesn't pee on his ledges and he doesn't seem to pee in the bottom level much. I think your chin is normal. I've never tried to give my chin a litter box. I use fleece...

    Decisions, decisions

I would think the wire floor would be hard on her little feet, but other than that, it looks OK. My chin has a double Ferret Nation all to himself and he does use every bit of the space, but he still sits around sometimes and stares into space. I don't think he's bored or lonely... Maybe that's...

    New chinchilla owner, help!

I saw a beautiful mosaic chin at Petsmart a few weeks ago & I was thinking of getting it as a potential cage mate for my chin, but when I asked the person who worked there if the chin was male or female, he said he didn't know. It made me kind of mad because even if you don't know much about...

    Water bottles/watering system question

I was using the Super Pet glass bottles when I first got my chin and they leaked, so I could never be sure if he was drinking or not. I ended up getting two of he valve stem water bottles - I believe they are Lixit brand. My chinchilla took to them pretty quickly, although he really only drinks...

How can I train my Chinchilla to let me pick him up.

The dust bath method works, but your chin might associate the dust bath with being out back into his cage and hesitate to go in there. They are smart little boogers! I am lucky in that my chin hops out of his cage on his own and goes back in on his own for the most part. If he won't, I try to...
