I breed in colony's, pairs and runs. Depends on the chin as I really prefer colonies but sometimes those just don't work depending on the attitudes of the animals. It's awesome when you can set up a colony and the females look after each others babies. Melanie

Really glad to hear you tossed those wheels. I have a chin with a missing back leg from one of those wheels. Her previous owner did not know and the chin got her foot caught and it broke the leg badly. It really sucks that people sell things are are very dangerous for the animals they are meant...

I have one very pissy Momma here, it's hard to handle her kits as she tries to nip me when have my hands in there. On a good note, she has had 4 kits here with me and not one is like her. They are all very sweet and calm. She is a really good Mom though :) Melanie

I like them both. One is more on care and one is more on genetics. Get them both if you can. Melanie

Chins with 3 legs do just fine. I have 2 girls here who are missing legs and you would not even notice they are missing a leg. They get around just fine. That might be the best option for your girl if it's not getting better. She will just keep chewing at it if it's hurting her. Melanie

If you are just breeding to make yourself a pet try the rescue near Calgary. I'm sure she she has some very nice pet chins for you... they really loving homes. If you are not breeding to improve and just want a pet go get a rescue. They really need homes. Melanie
