No, those would not be safe to use in a chinchillas cage. You can order fleece liners with a third fleece layer (we make those to order) if you want an extra layer.

Side note, Bass Equipment will make metal pans that will fit the Feisty Ferret cages if you give them a call. I own a few myself and love having metal pans and not having to keep the chins on the wire bottom.

Kittens are born with their eyes and ears closed. They don't open until they are about a week or so old. I wouldn't force anything open and if you are that concerned you should take the kitten to the vet.

Here in the States we have big box stores that sell wood plus all sorts of other home improvement items (Lowes Home Depot) and then smaller lumber yards that are mainly for purchasing wood products (86 Lumber). Is there any such store in the UK? I would first check the master store list...

Gasoline power washer is the only way I have found to get those plastic pans clean. Even then, you are not going to get them 100% if you haven't kept up washing the pan after every cleaning. When we have a rescue come in the whole cage including the pan gets power washed.

Call Bass Equipment and ask to see if they will custom make those. I have had them custom make pans before for me. Really nice people / company.
