Just because you live in Alaska does not mean your chin will live an unhappy life. I have heard horror stories about impaction with chinchillas... it is obvious that you love your chinchilla, so just do right by him. You wouldn't feed your dog chocolate, don't feed your chin plastic.
Also, I...
It's James and Scotty's very 1st birthday! I can't believe how much they have grown and changed in just one year. Scotty's personality has really shined through and we are getting to know both him and James so much better. They are definitely bonding with us, though it seems slow going. We can't...
Can you all post pictures, by chance, of what your support looks like? I am having a hard time figuring out where to support it with the Bass pans... THANK YOU!
Especially mercynursie... I really don't understand how you did a full length board.
Hey all! I am looking for suggestions on how to make our flying saucer quieter. The cage shakes so much it can actually wake us from a dead sleep! We have it on the top half of our ferret nation cage with 4 support braces. We tried it on the bottom and it was WAY worse. We want our chinnies to...
Susan- If you could, that would be amazing. I have been looking online for them everywhere. Plus, James and Scoty's birthday is January 1, 2014 (they'll be 1 year old!!) and we wanted to do something sort of special :)

We left our boys alone for four days with a friend just peeking in once a day to make sure they had hay and water. I felt better having our friend check in, even if it just was once a day.
I have no idea what his thought process is, and in the end I don't really care. They are my little guys, and I love them to death. Quirks and all! Even if they throw a fit and literally throw yellow loofahs out of the cage... Even if Scotty wall jumps off of my face... Even if James and Scotty...
The best part is he does stare at us until we get in bad. All we can think is that he is screaming mentally "Get in bed already! I want to run!!!" If we get up and turn off the lights, he jumps to a ledge, stares at us like nothing was happening at all. We turn off the lights, back he goes :D
Goodness, can you believe the boys are almost a year old! (Born 1/1/13) They are so sweet, and who would have imagined that grumpy Scotty would be the one that is calmest when held?
They are in their teenage boy stages and have, um, discovered themselves (which makes it easy to check for hair...
