Delighted to announce that my furry family has increased with the arrival of :chin2: Pucutu whose name means "thick mist".
She's (at present) a quiet, placid little girl of 12 weeks. Content to be handled as long as she's snuggled close.
:chin1: Tikiri whose name means "makes music and dances"...
I'm confused, "the towels inside will be damp-ish but the fleece remains bone dry"
I thought only fleece was a safe fabric, do you have towelling inside your fleece?
Hi Stitchie,
I'm a newbie awaiting my first Kit (22/23rd Feb) so I can't offer any advice :~(
Though from experience with a variety of other creatures I'd say you've got the food answer well worked out :~)
Good luck on the slow socialization of your 3 Chinchilla, hopefully you'll get 3...
Thanks IceMaiden, your post makes a lot of sense and saved me a small fortune :~)
I was anxious about boredom as the kit will be an only, I hadn't thought about it being fed up with just jumping ledges and no space for anything else.
Your cage looks super, things to do and space to do it in :~)...
Ok, it's 2:30am in England and I have an early start in the morning, but instead of sleeping peacefully I'm awake fretting about having everything just right for my new arrival.:read::confused3:
What do I stuff the fleece that covers the metal base pan with?
How much headroom is needed...
Lol IceMaiden, so did I until Christmas when I was given a Kindle Fire which seems to do everything except cook & wash up :~)
It does take great pics, I just need to work out how to download them to my email account.
Have to see if I can borrow my friend's 6 yr old as children these days are...
Got to work out how to use my kindle first, then pics will come :~)
Also of course got to let new little one over the shock of traveling and
coming to live with us all :~)
Got a call yesterday to tell me that at present Chinchilla babies are due to arrive at the pet shop at the end of next week 19/20th Nov.
They have to stay a couple of days and can then go to new homes!
My birthday is 21st, looks as though my prezzie to myself will be my baby:clap::bliss:
Now...
Thanks IceMaiden. My cats flipped out recently because I've had to completely change living room layout. They spent days avoiding the new large space and keeping as close to furniture as possible :~)
Thanks for the translation I would def not want to be buying the wrong stuff. I guess...
Thanks for the tips :~)
As I do pottery weekly I'm quite keen on making ceramic items and spending how thick and what type of clay I use it can be as delicate as porcelain bone china to concrete.
I can't easily access a place for the plastic piping, but I will get some when I can.
I'm guessing...
Hi LGarl,
Thank you for your welcome and your lovely comments :~)
I've always loved caring for creatures and despite the odd
heart break I can honestly say it's been incredibly rewarding.
I'm really looking forward to getting my little one, but I'm
holding off until I'm sure I've covered as...
GitaBooks, Hi and thank you for your welcome and your lovely comments.
I feel pretty honoured to have been able to help the creatures of every kind
that have been a part of my life.
Letting wild ones go free is heart wrenching and also incredibly rewarding. The Barn Owl population in Cornwall...
Thanks IceMaiden, that's the plan :~) I got my sisal there too.
I've crocheted a floor mat and a kind of trampoline for my hamster
with sisal and am going to try raffia and sisal mixed next.
Thought about making a rope with the mixture and binding it around
a ceramic tube 6" in diameter, 7"...
Gosh! Thanks to both IceMaiden and Amethyst for this new info.
I'll try to post a pic of cage set up before the Kit arrives so I can get an ok (or not) :~)
I did know about reaching out and plan to keep 6" clear around the cage. My cat's paws can't get in but I could well see them being...
