    I wrote a chinchilla book!

I think it'll end up being around $15 (just because it's fairly expensive to have printed). It's around 80 pages total. I would love to get it in book stores and libraries, but it costs more to have it distributed to those places. It'll just be on Amazon for now and there will be a Kindle...

Thank you all for the stories and pictures!! I really appreciate it. I thought it would be fun to add people's experiences in the book, so this really helps. Keep the stories coming. Also, if you could add a photo and mention your first and last name, that would be great!

Thank you! :) PM me any short stories about your experience owning chins to get in the book.

    I wrote a chinchilla book!

That's a good idea. I can post the table of contents here. The book has information on safe and unsafe wood, treats, pellets, toy parts, etc. It also has a section about unsafe items like death balls. Tells how to process your own wood, make your own fleece liners, how to make shelves. Safe...

Also, I'm looking for more short owner stories and experiences to add to the book. I have a few already, but I have room for more. Post here or PM me if you would like to have your story/experience along with a photo added to the book. :)

    I wrote a chinchilla book!

We all know how terrible the current chinchilla books on the shelves are. So I decided to write my own book. It has taken me pretty much all year, but I finally am close to being done. I just got my proofs in the mail today! YAY! Now I just need to do all of the edits and add my table of...

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

She looks comfortable, but a bit stressed from being in a new place. That's why I would worry that a vet visit would be bad for her and the possible babies. I've never had a pregnant animal before, so I'm really flying blind and I have no idea how to tell if she's truly pregnant or not. I...

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

This might help a bit. This photo shows both one of my males and the female in question. The male (top) is a bit overweight and almost twice the size of the female, but his stomach still goes inwards. The female (bottom) has a bulging stomach even though she is quite small. Hope this comparison...

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

I'm 99.9999% positive they are both female. As with chins, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc. you can tell the sex by the spacing, not to mention that spiny mice males have testicles that are retractable, but still noticeable. I have males, as well. Unfortunately, I don't know any breeders anywhere in...

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

Still no babies as of this morning. I'll be calling my vet later to see what she says.

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

Not very. But I sexed them myself, and they're both females. I have male spiny mice, and it's fairly easy to tell the difference if you know what you're looking for. The same as chins, really.

    Possible Pregnant Spiny Mouse?

I don't think I trust the person I got them from, really. You have to have a USDA breeder's license to breed more than 2 female spiny mice at a time, so they might've needed to get rid of some breeders if they knew someone was coming to check on them.
