    Not eating much

Just an update, he would not eat the critical care at all even with the pumpkin. However, he did eat well last night and drank well. I am unsure as to what is making him decide how much to eat, but maybe it is due to the stress of being picked up twice a day for a week.

    Not eating much

We revisited last night, and got him a bandage for his tail which he has gotten undone a tiny bit but is still holding up, also they put him on gabapentin and we got him some critical care. So as of right now he is on the meloxicam, gabapentin, and sulfa/trimel. He ate a little bit of his hay...

    Not eating much

Tuesday I took my chinchilla to the vet because he was chewing on his tail and had a bald bloody spot on it. The vet said that she thought it could have been heat that caused him to get stressed and chew on his tail (unfortunately for a few days the AC stopped working and it got hot in the room...

Accidentally got syringe medicine in fur

I have been having to give my chinchilla antibiotics and pain medication through a syringe to his mouth, and I accidentally got a little bit of it on the top of his head on the top of his fur. I quickly gave him a dust bath and now it is dried/crusted. What do I do? How do I safely get it off...

    Chinchilla not responding and shaking

He would jump from ledge to ledge every once in a while but he never fell over or anything like that. Can they have seizures when they are scared or is the seizure caused by something else? He just looked very frozen and off. 99.99 percent of the time when I touch his lower back he barks, but...

    Chinchilla not responding and shaking

Update : My chinchilla seems to be back to normal as of this morning. He apparently ate his hay and drank water and pooped. I am a little worried though because soft of his poop is a little soft kbut not runny). I am thinking it could have just been because there was a lot of banging last...

    Chinchilla not responding and shaking

A few minutes ago my chinchilla started making screaming noises, and I went into the room and he stopped, but he is breathing heavily and seems out of it and is shaking. I don't know if this is a serious matter but he doesn't seem 100 percent aware. When I put something near his nose he will...

    Playful Biting?

No his tail does not move when this happens at all. it's completely still the entire time, and Gizmo actually bit and tugged on my skin a couple of days ago as well, so now my husband is not the only one he's doing it to. It happened the same way -- he cooed really fast, then latched onto my...

    Playful Biting?

My chinchilla has been biting my husband. A little background, Gizmo is 1 yr 4 mos, and we have had him since this October. I do not understand our little guy. My husband will have his hand in Gizmo's cage petting him, and Gizmo is always really happy, climbing all over his arms, stretching...

    Adopting My First Babies!!!

No that is absolutely not okay. They need to be separated, unless you want to be dealing with a pregnant chinchilla and kits, which is not a walk in the park. That family has just been lucky, and for all you know, that female could actually be coming to you, already pregnant. It is a HORRIBLE...

Im going on vacation for the Holidays and I have questions.

I am glad that you asked this, Poofs! I have actually been wondering this myself! I may have to leave my little guy (Gizmo) for at least a few months and he will stay with my family no problem, but I have been worried that he will forget who I am! It would be so heartbreaking, coming back and...
