    Exercise Wheel and Cage Pans

Hello all! Been a little while since I've been on here, but I'm glad to be back! Unfortunately, one of our chins passed away last year. :( We miss him very much. Currently, I have three boys in a Critter Nation two level cage, and one boy in a cage all his own. I've been in a financial rut for...

    Any toys recommended?

Hello! There are many things that chinchillas like. :) Chinchillas love to hop, jump, run, and chew. Having some shelves in their cage allows them to hop and jump and play, and also having a chinchilla exercise wheel is very beneficial to them. There are many things they can chew on as well. My...

    Food/Water

Hello! Not to worry! It is normal for them not to eat all of it. Chins should have access to hay 24/7 so you are doing the right thing there. You might want to try a different hay feeder to minimize waste. I've got three different cages and three different feeders. One of the cages feeders is...

Can I feed my chin these no name pellets?

Hello Mandebear! I personally would reccommend Oxbow Essentials, it smells better, and looks better than a lot of other pellets. You can really tell that it is fresh. It's what I feed all of my five chinchillas. They love it! You can buy it from many online retailers in 5lb, 10lb, and 25lb bags...

    Pro-C supplements?

No. These supplements are not necessary for healthy chins. Chins will get much of the nutrients they need from hay and pellets. The only time they may need any kind of supplement is if they are sick and recovering as recommended by a vet.

San Diego Area? Save this chin!

That's awful. Chinchilla's should not be in an aquarium; there is no place to attach a water bottle that they need. And...a Chinchilla does not need a heat lamp or direct light like that. :(

    Not interested?

OK, it is totally normal for him to be bouncing off the walls, I've got quite the neurotic chin that does it all the time and has never injured himself. I too have a critter nation cage, and my hubby made several ledges that they love to jump onto. I wouldn't worry about his interests. We have...

    Painting around chins

Um, I wouldn't feel comfortable using any kind of paint around chinchillas or other small animals. They have sensitive respiratory systems, so you never know how something could affect them, no matter how safe the product may claim to be. I am unsure of what you are painting or how much, but I...

    Hehwhoa!

Hehwhoa everybody! My name is Doresa, and I have finally made an account here on CnH. I found out about this place through my baby: Stephen Elsbree. He's owned a chin 5+ years. His name is Henry (Standard). Henry was adopted from Petsmart; he had some health issues, so they couldn't sell him...
