Default Kiln Dried Pine Bedding

I know folks have told me that kiln dried pine bedding is just fine but I've read a few articles recently that say pine is not really good at all for Chinchillas and if you want wood, go with Aspen. I'm wondering though, are these folks just working with Aspen bedding makers or is there something legit to these articles. An example of one of these articles: Has anyone else heard that pine bedding is not so safe?

And wondering what do folks use for litter boxes. I was thinking a metal tin or glass pyrex dish. All the commercial ones appear to be plastic and don't see myself DIY'ing my own. Thanks and sorry for all the questions folks - once I get all my basics down, think I'll slow down. I appreciate the help and responses.
