So as i was finishing cleaning up my chinchilla's cage, I was taking him back and then he wiggled out of my grasp, trying to jump back into his cage. His foot then got caught in between the wiring and was dangling for about 7 seconds before finally freeing himself. This is the picture of his foot, should I take him to a vet or just clean it up and let it heal on its own?

Always take them to the vet. Open wounds can get infected and ,with their fragile bones, there is a chance of a broken bone. Simple issues can easily become big problems if left unchecked.

Another question after a visit to the vet

The vet just prescribed pain killers and anti-inflammatory to help with his foot. Now to help his healing, is it best to keep him in a small cage where there isn't much room to jump or should i keep him in his main cage which is very roomy?
