My chins are fine but I have a question about malo. I am aware it is hereditary and that it can happen when chins dont have enough things to chew but can it happen randomly? My chins have a lot of chew toys and there is no cases of it in their relatives so could they just get it with no cause? I'm just curious. Thanks :)

If a chin has teeth, they can malocclude. Heredity, enviroment, injury, infection, husbandry, habits, all come into play with malo.

My understanding is that there is no 100% guarantee against it. Even with no family history. I am told that it helps if we avoid giving treats (like petstore stuff and fruit, etc) because the sugary foods can cause nutrient imbalances in a chin and possibly make them more susceptible. *shrug*

We just gotta do the best we can for our chins and not sweat the things we can't control, I guess!
