I have a question about my two baby chins who were born yesterday morning. The runt has gained 2 g since born and the bigger one hasn't gained anything. They're both lively but should I step in and hand feed it some? I just don't want anything to happen. My question basically is, do they usually always gain weight their first day? I see they should be gaining 2-4 g a day? Is this correct? Thanks!
 
The first couple of days kits often loose a gram or two. It sounds like the kits are doing well since one has gained and the other hasn't lost weight. Mom's milk may not come in fully for a few days. I would not hand feed at this time. Hand feeding should be avoided because nursing encourages mom's milk to come in and natural milk is best for the kits.
