There always seems to be a bit of confusion regarding USDA regulations in regards to chinchillas and their sales.

I spoke with someone at the USDA Office today in Washington and they provided me with accurate and correct information regarding this.

In regards to selling chinchillas, you do not require a USDA license if you sell out of your home to the general public (retail sales). You only require a USDA license if you sell to a pet store, wholesaler, or broker, (wholesale sales) and then only if you sell more than $500.00 in chinchilla.
