Default Sick Chinchilla

So I recently got my second chinchilla about 2 weeks ago, within the first two days of getting her we took her to the vet (on the 7th) as we noticed she was sneezing and rubbing her nose quite a bit. The vet looked her over and said it seemed like a mild cold, her heart rhythm was normal and she said she was rubbing her nose so much due to being so congested. She prescribed the 2 ml twice a day of SMZ TMP liquid and said for me to come back on the 22nd. Well on thursday night she actually itched her nose so much that she cut it and was sort of breathing funnier then normal, kept opening her mouth and pawing at it a little bit so we thought it best we go Friday rather then waiting until Monday. So we went to the exotic pet specialist and they took a look in her mouth and checked for dental issues which they said all looked clear, she said she doesn't think it is ringworm but if I wanted we could run a test so I went ahead and asked her to do so. She went ahead and prescribed 1 ml of baytril twice a day and to discontinue use of the SMZ TMP liquid. So she still thinks its a cold and shes just super congested so shes trying to breath through her mouth. She also prescribed some drops to put on/in her nose called ofloxacin ophthaimic solution. I'm just super concerned and wondering if anyone's had any similar things happen. I am going to go ahead and link a video of her breathing weird and if you guys could tell me what you think/would recommend that would be amazing. Here is the link http://gph.is/2G2noaj

She is struggling to breathe, that's why she opens her mouth and paws her nose. Did the vet take some radiographs? Maybe you should use nebulizer to help her get her mucus out of her nose, it takes some time for the anibiotics to kick in, supportive therapy should help. Maybe a bacterial culture would be a good option if this treatment doesn't work.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I went ahead and got another vet appointment set up for tomorrow with my usual vet (also a exotic vet specialist) I'll ask them to do the radiographs for sure. I wont be able to get a nebulizer until tomorrow as I have about a 2 hr drive from the nearest place I could get one. Also where my vet is located. She's definitely worth the drive and I want to give her the best shot she has of beating this. I may mention the idea of the bacterial culture to my vet tomorrow as well. She is still super active and I don't see any signs of her being at all lethargic so that's a plus, shes still eating and drinking and her droppings are fairly normal. They are a bit smaller then they were before but they aren't mushy or any thing like that. She is slowly gaining weight as well, she started at .7 lbs which was pretty low and when we took her on Friday she was at .9 lbs. The place we got her from actually just yesterday let me know that she was sick when they first got her and she had diarrhea. They also left her dust bath in with her almost 24/7. I really hope that she can make it through this. Is it okay for me to let her get out of her cage and run around for play time or should I maybe hold off on that for now?

So I took her to the vet again yesterday, she listened to her breathing as she was doing the weird thing. The vet said that everything seemed okay the only thing that it seemed like was infamation in her throat. She didnít want to do the X-ray as sheís thinking it could be the ringworm and we just have to wait for those test results to get back. She was also thinking that she might be allergic to something, I use liners and wash them with vinegar so it couldnít be that but she went ahead and reccomended 0.35 ml of childrenís Benadryl so we are gonna see if that helps the breathing thing as when I talk to her and let her she will stop doing the weird breathing thing. Hoping itís something simple if both things donít work we are going to do the bacterial culture.
