I was cleaning my chin's cage when I saw there were dry, white spots. I don't know what they are; I tried looking online for some type of explanation, but I couldn't find anything. Is this normal? I haven't seen it in her cage before. Please help me if you can; this is my first time owning chinchillas.

It is more likely that it is dried urine. Some chins will pee in their shelves and when it dries it can turn white. If your chinchilla has never done this before, you might want to have it checked by a vet for a urinary tract infection.

I sometimes have it too. Someone said a long time ago that white is too much calcium. Hopefully, someone will post about the calcium.

I have those where my chin pees (he has 3 favorite spots, including his litter box). I use a half vinegar/half water solution (very hot) and wipe them off.
